We can dance if we want to...
So I finished Life of Pi, and, contrary to what a character and the back cover said, it would not have made me believe in God, if I didn't already do so.
The first little bit...say, 100 pages or so...was interesting, but then it got quite monotonous.
Mr. Hazelton lent me my new piece of reading - it'll tide me over until my book comes in at the library (How to Solve Problems - written from a psychological perspective, it comes highly recommended by my Cognitive Psychology prof). As of the first 2 pages, it sounds promising.

That's fine, that's good, that's nice...
Haven't blogged in forever, even though there's been much I could have blogged about - heck, I didn't even blog after the election results came in (Monday night - happy; Tuesday morning - unhappy).
Blogging has become more of a chore than a pleasure these days, so, to make a long story short (something I don't often do here), I'm going on leave...for an indefinite period of time. Perhaps this blog will just die, perhaps it will be reincarnated in a while in a different form, but for now it's in limbo; a literary coma (think Black Mamba after Bill shot her in the head).
Just before I sign off, two good things I saw/heard over the past while:
1. Coffee and Cigarettes - I specifically recommend the following vignettes:
-Those Things'll Kill Ya
-No Problem
-Delirium
-Cousins?
2. Happenstance - I specifically recommend tracks 1, 2, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14 [bonus track].
Addendum: I love my cog-psyc prof. Here's one of his examples for satisficing (basically, accepting 'good enough' instead of perfect, or, a reasonable degree of certainty instead of absolute certainty when absolute certainty requires much more effort/time):
Marriage is an example. If we seek perfection we will always be looking for 'an even better partner'. A spouse is someone who is 'just good enough' because the alternative is: "Hey I think you're perfect but do you mind if I check out a few more girls just to be sure?" (warning: don't ever say this!)
